The Lazy Blogger

Sorry, I know it's been a few days since I've updated everyone on here, but really, there hasn't been very much going on around here. A few things/new developments have happened though....

First of all we have a new favorite toy in the house! Dan's mom bought the girls an 'exersaucer' for Christmas, and we just decided to test it out a couple days ago. They have been doing really well sitting up in their bumbo seats, so we thought that maybe they are big enough for their shiny pink exersaucer. Well, we were just about right. They are a little too little still, but with a blanket or two for padding they just fit, and it was a HUGE hit! Especially with Harper. She sat there the whole time I was making dinner yesterday just staring at all the gizmos and gadgets with complete amazement and wonder. Analiese is still not too sure about it, she is a bit too lazy to hold her head up (which is funny because she will sit up straight in her bumbo for an hour). Anyway, we will keep trying with Ana, that is if Harper will share, and we may eventually need to invest in another! So I know I've said it before, but Caroline, thank you so much for our new toy!

Ummm....is this the cutest face ever or what?!

Analiese finally getting her turn in the exersaucer!

Harper is completely entralled!

Another new development is that the girls are sleeping like absolute rockstars! So about a month ago, our girls were sleeping pretty good, especially for 2 month olds. Really they have been on a good schedule since the day we brought them home from the hospital. They generally ate for the last time around 10pm, then they woke up around 2am, then they are up for the day around 6. Well, for the last 3 weeks the have been waking up 4 or 5 times a night, then they finally just get up for the day around 5.30am. It was awful. I hadn't been that tired since I had the girls. I was absolutely miserable. Well out of the blue this past weekend they must have just finally gotten tired themselves, because they are now eating around 10, waking up at 3, then up for the day between 7 and 8. MUCH BETTER! This schedule I can definitely deal with. We are currently on day 5, so hopefully it sticks!

On the 26th was my BABY cousin Cole's birthday. Ok, so it was his 13th birthday, so I guess I can't really call him my baby cousin anymore, but really, he is the youngest of the 8 grand kids and I cannot believe that he is already a teenager! How does time go by that fast?! I know it is going to fly just as fast if not faster with my own babies, and the thought of it is really bumming me out. Once again I will say it...cherish the moments with your little ones while they are still little!!!
All the partying wore Alexis and Harper out!

Happy Birthday Cole!!

And last but not least, Dan and I have decided that as long as things keep going as planned we are going to bypass renting, and we are going to BUY A HOUSE!  We have to pay a few things off (cars, cards, and student loans) but that is all going quickly, then we will see what are chances are of getting approved for a mortgage, and then we will start house hunting. I am very excited, but also terrified because my sister told me that it was the most stressful thing she has ever done in her life including planning her wedding. YIKES! My girls are enough stress for me, so I'm pretty sure I am going to be a hot mess through this whole process, so readers beware I may be venting to you a lot! Hopefully there will be more house news coming soon......

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!

The past couple days have been very busy, but very fun!! We took the girls out on Sunday and Monday before the weather got crazy cold, and I ventured out to Chicago by myself yesterday.

Sunday was my sister Katie's graduation party at my grandma's house. She just finished up her psychology degree at Purdue University Northwest. I am very proud of her and so are the girls!! :) Katie is the first in the fam to graduate from college (don't worry, I'm next!). Anyway, we had a nice party, all in doors thank goodness, and got to celebrate a little bit with her! The girls got all dressed up, and were ohhed and ahhed over all day as usual. I know I am a completely biased parent, but I have the cutest kids ever right?!?!

On Monday the girls and I went out to (a little bit colder, but not too bad) to my great grandma's house to visit with her and my grandpa who have only seen the girls twice since they were born! All of our schedules have been crazy, so we finally found some time to catch up. It was so nice to see them, and it was adorable watching them with the girls. My grandpa is so funny, and claims to not be a baby person, but he was snapping away pictures the whole time, and so eager to hold them! My great grandma was thrilled to see them again, and I'm pretty sure I saw tears in her eyes at one point. It's hard not to love them!! Overall, I am going to call the day a success, and will have to find more time to get together with them.

And finally on Tuesday, I headed out to Salon Blonde in Chicago to see one of my oldest friends Stefanie, and to have her dye my hair. I have been debating going blonde for a very long time, but never had the guts to do it. Finally I came up with a plan. My new year's resolution (I know they are tacky, but this is the first one I have ever made, and so far I am doing really good with it!) was to lose my baby weight. My ultimate goal is to lose 20 pounds. I am not too set on those numbers, really I just want to feel good about the way I look even if I can achieve that with only 5 pounds. So the plan was, when I reached my goal I was going to finally take the plunge and go blonde. Well I haven't reached that goal yet, but I did run into some luck...

Last week I was talking to my cousin about the possibility of going blonde (I usually have to talk these things through with everyone because I am so indecisive). A little bit later that day I was scrolling through my news feed on facebook and saw Stefanie put up a status saying that she needed a model for a big color change, specifically a blonde going brunette or a brunette going blonde. PERFECT! I decided it was a sign, and it was wayyy too good of a deal to pass up, so I went for it! I text her to see if the spot was still open. Well it was, and on Tuesday morning I got all bundled up and set out to make a huge change! Six hours later I walked out of Salon Blonde and I was BLONDE!!!

I absolutely love it, and cannot thank her enough! Stef, it was so good catching up with you, and margaritas are on me next time you are home!! Love ya!

Three Months Old

I can't believe it (don't want to believe it), but my sweet baby girls are exactly three months old today!! Seriously time goes by so fast it's insane! The phrase "blink and you miss it" is the biggest understatement I have ever heard when it comes to kids growing up. I think back to how much they have changed already and just get so excited (and terrified) about whats to come. I feel like it was just yesterday that they couldn't hold their heads up, slept the majority of the day, didn't smile, and didn't make any noises but cries and grunts. Now they are picking up their heads to look around, awake much more during the day, smiling all the time, and laughing and squealing while we play. I knew I would love being a mom, but words cannot even begin to describe how I feel about these girls!!!

Here they are at three months...HOW CUTE ARE THEY?!

We had kind of a big day. It was definitely exhausting for them, but quiet for me, so I'm not too upset. They started by spoiling me with sleeping in until 7! Then we had a shopping day with Aunt Katie, then dinner with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. I am a little nervous for tonight because they slept so much during the day, but I'm sure we will make it!

Harper snuggling up with her bear!

Analiese was so tired she could barely keep her bink in her mouth!

Moral of the story is that these beautiful girls are growing way too fast, but i love watching the process! I can't believe how incredibly lucky we are to have them in our lives and I hope that everyone out there cherishes every moment that they have with their precious kiddos! Time goes way too fast so don't blink! ;)

Teething Troubles

My poor little Harper is teething, actually they both are, Harper is just more pissed about it than Analiese. When I figured this out I was amazed and upset for her because she is not even three months old yet! How is that possible?! The proof is there though. She is very cranky and crying a lot (and my girls are seriously usually the happiest babies ever), they are constant drool fountains, they are gnawing on their pacifiers rather thank sucking on them, and the most obvious sign...Harper is actually CUTTING A TOOTH!! WHAT?!

Because of all this, I get more of these faces

And less of these faces

Obviously I hate that, but whats more frustrating, is that I really cant do anything about it. Neither of the girls have the hand eye coordination to use teethers. When they get really grumpy I will obviously hold it for them, but if they had it their way I would do that all day and have a messy house and very tired arms. They make teethers exactly for this situation but somewhere along the line, they were obviously not tested very well because they are way too big for the girls' little mouths!

We are going to the doctor tomorrow because both of the girls have a rash on their faces and necks, so we will ask him for advice on what we can do, but do any moms out there have any tips for me?!

Hey there

So this is my first blog post ever and I just want to warn everyone that this entire blog is probably going to be very boring if you are not as obsessed with my kids as I am. Basically I just want a way to chronicle my beautiful twin baby girls' lives and maybe be some moral support to another mom of twins, because I know I could have used some.

Like I said, I am the proud mom to twin girls Analiese Sophia and Harper Elisabeth and wife to my English hubby Dan. Dan and I met while working at the best summer camp ever Southwoods in the adirondack mountains in New York in June of 2010. He is from England and I met him in his third year working there.

After we left camp we started a long distance relationship, traveled between Evansville, Indiana and buckinghamshire, England, made a pit stop in Bangkok, Thailand where we made the crazy decision to quit the distance and get married. Four short months later we got married in a very small ceremony on the beach in Virginia beach, Virginia and started our crazy life together.

Just a few weeks after our wedding we moved to Sevilla, Spain where I studied and Dan worked, then four months later decided to live close to his family in england while we were waiting on Dan's green card. Two days before I came back to the states for my sisters wedding (Dan was following me a month later, as we still didn't have his green card and I was a bridesmaid) I found out that I was pregnant...SURPRISE! Then a couple weeks later I found out it was twins....BIGGER SURPRISE!! Literally I would have fell to the floor if I wasn't on an exam table when the tech told me. luckily Dan got his green card and became a permanent resident of the united states just 3 weeks later.

On October 17th, 2012 at 8:31 and 8:33, 5 and a half weeks early, we met the most beautiful little girls in the world and became the proudest parents ever (yes I know I'm biased, but hey, aren't all moms?) Analiese spent one week in the hospital, and Harper spent two. While they were the hardest two weeks of my life, it made bringing them home that much more amazing. Since then we have settled down, Dan is working at a job that he loves in Chicago, and I am working at a job that I love at home with the kiddos (being a mom is the best job ever!)

I am using this as a tool for my family near and far to keep up with the Hills, and for any moms who just need to see that they are not the only ones wanting to pull their hair out sometimes ;) I hope you enjoy, and happy reading!
